SUMMARY:Free Training Independent Cost Estimator (ICE) Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)\, through its Every Day Counts initiative\, continues to promote and advance non-traditional contract delivery methods intended to streamline the procurement process on federally-funded projects. Such procurement practices\, known as "Alternative Contracting Methods" (ACMs)\, are designed to provide owners\, contractors and design teams the flexibility to incorporate innovative and potentially cost-saving measures into the planning\, design and construction of projects.\n\n \n\n One such ACM is the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) "team" approach\, that combines the Construction Manager's professional management capabilities during the planning and design phase with actual construction services of the General Contractor\, who is responsible for completing the work on schedule and within budget. A key component of the CM/GC includes the need for input from an Independent Cost Estimator (ICE) who works directly with the owner to develop overall project cost models while independently authenticating the Construction Managers pricing.\n\n \n\n FHWA has developed a training program designed to highlight the role of the ICE\, and the importance of this position in a successful ACM endeavor\, and ACNM is pleased to offer this FREE 1-Day Training Workshop that will be led by Mr. Kenneth Atkins\, a Contract Administration Engineer with the FHWA Resource Center. The Workshop begins at 9:00am on Tuesday\, August 28 at the ACNM Office in Albuquerque\, and will conclude at 4:30pm. Lunch will be served\, and we encourage our members and industry partners to plan to attend this important session to learn more about this innovative procurement method. Space will be limited\, so please let me know as soon as possible if you or someone from your company would like to attend.
