About Us 

We are a small, growing construction company based in Isleta, New Mexico, focused on delivering high-quality infrastructure projects that support local communities. Kimo specializes in NMDOT work, including but not limited to; structural bridge/concrete work, flat work, and erosion control such as gabions and wire enclosed riprap all carried out with a strong emphasis on safety, sustainability, and environmental compliance. We are seeking a well-rounded and experienced General Superintendent to lead our field operations. 

Position Summary 

As General Superintendent, you will oversee multiple construction projects—highway, bridge, and erosion control—ensuring all on-site activities are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will manage crews, subcontractors, and equipment, making this role ideal for a proactive leader with strong construction expertise and a passion for building lasting infrastructure. 

Additionally, you will work closely with senior management who oversees multiple projects and monitors key performance indicators such as budget, schedule, quality, safety, and compliance. You will act as a bridge between the executive team and the field operations, managing project superintendents and field staff. This position also requires effective communication with different stakeholders, such as clients, contractors, engineers, architects, and workers. 

Job Description 

A General Superintendent is responsible for planning, organizing, and monitoring the progress of multiple projects of various complexity and sizes. They must review specifications, drawings, and materials to ensure they meet industry and owner/engineer standards. Supervisors must also direct activities of subcontractors, and workers on the site, as well as inspect and evaluate the quality and safety of work in progress. Additionally, they must prepare and maintain documentation such as invoices, daily reports, change orders, and inspections. In addition, they need to communicate and report the status of the projects to upper management, including but not limited to Project Manager, Project Coordinator, Vice President and President of Kimo Constructors. 

Key Responsibilities 
 

 

Lead field operations for highway construction, bridge building and demolition, and erosion control projects 

Supervise Kimo crews and subcontractors with a focus on productivity and safety 

Scheduling regular meetings with site inspectors, testing, managers and staff 

Evaluating performance and providing feedback, conducting and reporting supervisor evaluations 

Coordinate project schedules, equipment, and logistics, three week and monthly schedules 

Reviewing and approving time reported in the field, working with payroll for any issues/concerns 

Ensure strict compliance with environmental and safety regulations 

Conduct inspections and quality control checks 

Maintain daily logs, safety reports, and progress updates 

Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients 

Train and mentor crew members, supporting a team-focused culture 

Ongoing monitoring of construction processes and providing training and team building sessions as needed 

Qualifications 

Must be able to pass a drug test 

Strong work ethic and ability to work well in a team environment. 

Willingness to learn and take on new tasks as assigned 

Ability to perform physical labor and lift heavy objects 

Minimum 7 years of construction experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role 

Strong knowledge of bridge construction/demolition, highway infrastructure, grading, and erosion control 

Familiarity with SWPPP, NPDES, and local/state environmental requirements 

Proficient in blueprint reading and civil construction documentation 

Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills 

High school diploma required; degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is a strong plus 

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record 

 

Willingness to Travel 

Willingness to travel out of town to work on remote job sites as directed by management 

 

Preferred Skills 

Bilingual (English/Spanish) 

OSHA 30 certification 

Experience with tribal or rural infrastructure projects
